Formation of Malaysia biometrics industry association embracing developments

Malaysia Biometrics Industry Association, established on the 28th August 2019, is a newly formed association initiated by the Chairman, Mr Teh Hon Seng. 

The objectives of MBIA formation are to gather industry practitioners in the effort to explore various opportunities for biometrics technology in multiple sectors within the country, as well as forging collaboration with other biometrics associations worldwide. The Chairman also aspires to improve the biometrics industry in Malaysia as a whole with MBIA as a strategic alliance.
 
“Having the responsibility to realize these objectives, we have a plan to hold a global conference in Malaysia to propel this industry forward and explore vast opportunities in the private and government sectors for the benefits of the members and the industry.”, said Teh.

Teh is the renowned figure in the biometrics industry, having led a successful biometrics brand, FingerTec, he has more than 20 years of experience in the biometrics community. He is now the CEO of TimeTec Computing Sdn. Bhd., a company that produces 100% locally developed cloud solutions for workforce and security industry for the worldwide market and continues taking the lead in the biometrics industry with FingerTec brand.  

The association is going to continue in reaching a larger group of audiences at a rising number of biometrics and cloud solution users in Malaysia.

Of the company’s years of success in the field of biometrics, Teh asserted, “The IoT era is the future. The very reason we have been working to developing and moving onto the next level to adapt to the latest digital age, particularly the 5G. Biometrics needs to evolve and assimilate into the next trend to stay relevant.” 

This association could become a momentous change in Malaysia’s technological world, given the industry is beginning to accelerate the growth of innovation-driven and productivity-led strategies. 

At the inaugural annual general meeting, the first committee of MBIA is formed with Mrs Norana Johar from TimeTec Computing resumes Vice Chairman, Mr Curtis Tan from ZKTeco (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. as Secretary, Desmond Wong from AMTC Sdn. Bhd. as Treasurer, Mr Yeap Ban Choon from Ingress Synergy and Mr Hah Yau Chuen from Data Trend Computer Sdn. Bhd. as committee members.
