Perth Airport, one of the busiest in Australia, has expanded its video surveillance system with a software platform from Aimetis and storage solutions from EMC, raising its camera-deployment capacity to meet regulatory obligations.

Perth Airport handles over 13 million travelers each year and operates one of the largest surveillance installations in Australia. Passenger volume is expected to more than triple in the next 30 years.

In the next five years, the airport expects to complete construction of a third runway, while also opening new domestic and international piers, car parks, and a hotel.

With Aimetis’ video surveillance software Symphony and EMC Isilon storage deployed, the airport can potentially scale its camera operations from hundreds to thousands to meet the rising need.

“The immediate advantage we have gained with the Aimetis Symphony and EMC Isilon platform is that when we need to replay video footage, we can access it with less than one second latency,” said Brett Hoogland, IT Systems and Security Supervisor at Perth Airport.
