As Teri Ho, Director of Business Development & Training at Pelco by Schneider Electric put it, overall, the security industry in Asia continues to enjoy good growth in 2014, where projects continue to be rolled out in the government sector. Citing examples like airports, seaports, subways, city surveillance, traffic monitoring, education, commercial, and industrial, Ho noted many examples of sustained projects set forth by the Asian government sectors.

Some hot countries of focus in developing markets listed by Ho include Thailand, Indonesia, and India and emerging countries like Vietnam and Cambodia are areas where Pelco is investing in, strengthening their presence there. By increasing their resources locally in order to jointly develop business with Pelco’s channels, this enables the company to be closer to their customers and “acquire information back for their teams in order to meet customer needs,” Ho said. Overall, she explained, “Asia will continue to be a focused market for growth when compared with Europe and the Americas, with Asia still registering reasonable GDP growth. There are still opportunities for businesses to develop, especially in the emerging markets and countries that only just recently opened up, like Myanmar.”

All-in-all, there is definitely still huge growth potential in Asia, and in the mid to long-term, the revenue contributions will be equal to the Americas and EMEA, said Ho. “Asia is a force to be reckoned with, and the needs of the Asian market are always seriously considered when we develop our strategies.” She also elaborated that because the security markets are so fragmented, Pelco will continue to focus on capturing the markets and segments where our offers will be able to meet end-users’ requirements and solve their problems. “We believe that at the end of the day, it’s about the value proposition of the solutions or offers that will influence the buying decision.”
