Sri Lanka eyes biometric passports

A new biometric passport project is set to get underway in Sri Lanka as its government attempts to streamline the passport issuing process.
The project, supported by the Australian government aims to tackle illegal migration.
According to The Straits Times, Australia is contributing around 500 million Sri Lankan rupees to the scheme, while the treasury in Colombo will be contributing an additional 50 million Sri Lankan rupees.
The International Organization for Migration is leading the project.
