Korea group bags consultancy contract for LRT-2 extension in Manila

A South Korean consortium won the consultancy contract for the civil works of the $218 million Light Rail Transit Line 2 East Extension project.
Transportation Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya issued the notice of award to the consortium composed of Foresight Development and Surveying Company, Soosung Engineering Co. Ltd., and Korea Rail Network Authority.
The Korean-led group bested the consortium that included JF Cancio & Associates, Development Engineering & Management Corporation, Engineering & Development Corporation of the Philippines, Filipinas Dravo Corporation, TCGI Engineers, Urban Integrated Consultants Inc., and Oriental Consultants Co. Ltd.
Others shortlisted for the project were - the consortium of Schema Konsult Inc., Pertconsult International, KE Asia Inc., DCCD Engineering Corp., Key Engineers Co., and Proconsult Inc.; the group of Systra Philippines and Philipps Technical Consultants Corp.; and a joint venture between Science and Vision for Technology Inc. and Yooshin Engineering Corp.
However, out of the 5 prequalified groups, only the group of Foresight Development, Soosung Engineering and Korea Rail Network Authority passed the technical proposal requirement.
Other groups led by JF Cancio & Associates, Schema Consult and Systra-Philipps have filed a motion for consideration with the DOTC.
The LRT-2 East Extension project involves the construction of a 4.19-km extension from the existing Santolan Station to Masinag Junction (intersection of Marcos Highway and Sumulong Highway).
2 stations will be built at Emerald Drive, Cainta (in front of Robinson’s Place Metro East) and Masinag Junction, Antipolo City.
