Korea: SK Hynix reviewing of new D RAM factory construction

SK Hynix is reviewing their plan of constructing a D RAM semiconductor line factory in Icheon, Gyeonggi-do, Korea. According to the industry source on the 18th (KST), SK Hynix is preparing to reconstruct the current M10 line in Icehon into 2 new factory lines.

Nothing has been confirmed yet and they are still in position of deciding.

For this, SK Hynix is planning to invest US$14 billion for next 8 years in constructing and preparation. They are expected to finalize their decision before the end of the year.

SK Hynix had tried to expand the factories in Icheon in 2006 but had been rejected because factories were restricted within the Capital and nearby area. If they are granted permission to rebuild and expand, they guaranteed that they will lower the waste production and pollution level.
