Japan’s Kansai Electric signs 22-year contract for Indonesian LNG

Japan’s Kansai Electric Power said on Wednesday it has signed a 22-year contract to procure 1 million tons of liquified natural gas (LNG) annually from Indonesia’s Tangguh gas field from 2014.
The field, located in the Indonesian province of West Papua, has 2 trains with a total annual capacity of 7.6 million tons. The capacity is expected to rise to 11.4 million tons with the start-up of a third train that is slated for 2016.
