Vietnam retail boom continues

The retail sector in Hanoi has shown signs of change for the better, thanks to FDI. Currently, there are 650 supermarkets spreading over all 59 provinces, and 117 shopping centers in 32 provinces. The number of newly established supermarkets and shopping centers after five years of joining the WTO in 2007 has surged by up to 72%.
In addition, thousands of specialty shops and convenience stores have expanded nationwide. The country's retail industry has improved its position in the national economy, with a contribution of more than 14% of GDP and employment
