A new airport is needed to reduce traveler density at the Bali Ngurah Rai Airport in Denpasar, as well as to decongest air traffic in the vicinity. As Transportation Minister Evert Mangindaan Erenst said in Jakarta on Oct 9, one possible location is “Kubutambahan on the north side of the island,” while the ministry has three other options for the proposed new airport. A feasibility study will be undertaken by a team of technicians shortly.

One reminder from the government is not to violate local provisions in constructing new buildings: to keep building heights lower than those of Hindu temples.
