A partnership forged with Manila Electric Company (MEC) is helping reinforce the position of Pag-asa Steel Work as a formidable player in Philippine construction materials trade.
Last year, the construction industry in the Philippines registered a growth rate of at least 13.7%. With business optimism at an all-time high, Pag-asa is confident in scaling new heights in the growing Philippine economy.
The deal stipulates a pricing scheme that offers lower generation charges for eligible clients who maintain 24/7 operation and intensive energy consumption during off-peak hours and Sundays. The peak/off-peak program has saved energy costs for Pag-asa and boosted its expansion plans — for example, a new plant in Pinagbuhatan Pasig that triples production capacity.
Victor S. Genuino, VP and Head of Corporate Business Group at MEC, stressed that the company “has the obligation to fulfill its responsibility when the steel industry ramps up production for infrastructure development by literally helping power up its customers.”
