Solar panels provide renewable energy free of the emission of greenhouse gases. Yet the yielding fluctuates depending on the length of exposure time and the intensity of sunlight. In other words, solar panels fail to effectively generate energy when the sky is not clear or after night falls. Due to this limitations, how to maximize solar energy production is crucial. The answer is timing—-and the help of smart home devices.

Develco Products, a Denmark electronics manufacturer, introduces its new creation, Prosumer Meter, promoting it as energy management device.

By gathering and analyzing real time data from three different parameters —-energy consumed by the household, energy produced coming from the household’s own solar panel system, and energy coming from the connected grid—-the device can recognize the right time when the yielding of home solar panel system at its highest.

Subsequently, the device will automatically activate high energy consumption activities, such as charging hybrid car, starting the washing machine and ramping up the heating system at time intervals with free and renewable energy coming from their very own solar panel system. When the sunlight dims or night falls, the devices will shut down those aforementioned activities to prevent utilizing energy from the grid.

By doing so, the devices enable electronics to harness clean, renewable, and free solar energy as much as possible, and minimize the consumption of power originated from fossil fuels.

With energy intelligently managed in household, energy utilization inevitably becomes cost effective both for owners and for the society. While home owners save money, the extreme fluctuation of power supply in public grid can be avoided.

The developer, Develco Products, armed with more than 10 years of experience in smart energy industry, concentrates on high-volume customized products with IoT solutions.

The conception behind is that many households nowadays are equipped with solar panels, and since the power they generate cannot be stored, it is beneficial to let smart home devices to manage power usage at home on behalf of users.
