Larson Electronics, a manufacturer of industrial lighting products, has announced the release of an explosion-proof portable analog observation camera with day/night infrared capabilities and a sight glass mount. This 1080p resolution camera is remotely mounted allowing operators to view live feed from tanks, reactors and vessels from a centralized control room.

The EXPCMR-ALG-1080P-SGM-1227 is a high definition analog explosion proof camera for inspections and monitoring in combustive environments. The 3.5-watt device produces images with 1080p resolution. A 3.6mm, 90-degree wide-area fixed lens allows comprehensive observation in a single frame. In infrared mode, the explosion proof camera captures images in low-light conditions, illuminating targets up to 50 feet away. An infrared cut-off filter enhances image capturing and promotes clarity during observation.

This explosion proof camera features pressure-resistant 316 stainless steel body, 1 lux sensitivity, a -wire transmitter and a built-in color CCD camera and 1/3” CCD sensor. A customer provided coax cable with BNC connector is required for connection. Terminal strips within the camera allows the power supply for the camera to be terminated through a separate ¾” NPT. The EXPCMR-ALG-1080P-SGM-1227 operates on universal voltage 120/240V AC at 50/60 Hz.

Mounting for the explosion-proof camera is facilitated by adjustable legs, compatible with several mounting requirements and configurations. This device can be sight glass/surface mounted via direct attachment using a nut, flanged adapter collar, or hinged bracket. The lightweight device is constructed of pressure-resistant aluminum and tempered glass (lens). Designed for use in environments ranging between -10°C and +50°C, the unit is NEMA-rated and offers IP66 waterproof protection.

Explosion proof classifications for the camera includes the following: Class I, Division 1 & 2 (Groups B, C, D); Class I, Zone 1 & 2 (Groups IIB+H2, IIA), Class II, Division 1 & 2 (Groups E, F, G) and Class III, Division 1 & 2. For international compliance, ATEX ratings include: Ex db IIC Gb and Ex tb IIC Gb Db IP66.

Applications for the EXPCMR-ALG-1080P-IC-10.5-1200-1227-NP range from inspections, tank cleaning, remote observation and security to work-site observation, surveying in flammable environments and compliance with safety regulations.
