DeTect along with DSI Security Services, have announced that DeTect’s DroneWatcher drone detection and defense system will be deployed at the Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam this weekend. The Jam is a three-day, open air, Country Music Festival held annually in Panama City Beach, Florida. With the recent proliferation of drones, the jam organizers were concerned about unauthorized drone activity during the performances that could endanger performers and attendees as well illegal filming of performances.

For the jam, DeTect will deploy and operate a full DroneWatcher system including radar and radiofrequency (RF) scanners and detectors to create the highest level of detection and control available, providing DSI and local law enforcement with a common operating picture display of drone activity out to one mile around the venue. DSI staff will also be equipped with DroneWatcherAPP enabled smartphones to create a roving network of human ‘drone detectors’ to supplement the radar and long-range RF sensors and to guide security staff to any drone controller locations that are detected. The DroneWatcher drone detector APP is available in free and paid versions on Google Play and on the Amazon Appstore for Android. “We are excited about our partnership with DSI”, said DeTect’s General Manager Jesse Lewis. “The safety of the community and visitors is paramount and with the DroneWatcher system, we will be able to detect drones in the vicinity of the venue and take actions to ensure the safety of the Jam attendees.”
