VDG Security provides video recording and display solution for Bosphorus Bridge

The Bosphorus, or Bosporus, is a narrow, natural strait and an internationally significant waterway located in northwestern Turkey. It forms part of the continental boundary between Europe and Asia, and separates Asian Turkey from European Turkey. The Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge is a bridge for rail and motor vehicle transit over the Bosphorus strait, to the north of two existing suspension bridges in Istanbul, Turkey. At 322 m (1,056 ft), the bridge is the tallest suspension bridge in the world.

Because of the importance of this bridge, monitoring the new peripheral highway around the city including two tunnels is essential. The bridge consists of a two-way, four-lane motorway and two high-speed railway tracks, and is accessed by approximately 135,000 vehicles a day in each direction. VDG Sense is recording video and receiving AID (Automatic Incident Detection) events from the FLIR ITS server. Events like a pedestrian on the road or a car driving in the opposite direction create a macro. These events are used in the control room to show the cameras in VDG Sense on which an incident occurs. The operators are pro-actively informed about incidents on the highway using audio alarms and camera pop-ups. VDG Sense is also used for retrieving video from incidents and overview live cameras (fixed and PTZ).
