Challenge
DSW is looking at the future – one that doesn't include dual EAS technologies. Having both RF & AM systems in most stores, they were faced with the challenge of moving forward with only one solution. Their existing systems proved to be one-dimensional with its only function as EAS. The company needed a security solution with the ability to track stock levels, assist with investigations, and provide analytics, all while blending seamlessly into the store's polished warehouse design.

Focusing on the future, DSW initially started looking at RFID solely as a theft solution. They began testing RFID on handbag tables to alert the store teams of any grab-andruns, and to keep track of their mobile devices and tablets. After several tests and research, DSW realized the true ROI would be in absolute unit accuracy for their inventory, and they were ready to upgrade to RFID technology for EAS.

Solution
Following a successful RFP process, which included a pilot phase, Nedap was selected to supply DSW with the concealed !D Top RFID overhead reader. In addition to its aesthetics and small impact on the store's appearance, the !D Top was chosen for its intuitive and simple technology. DSW needed a solution that is not too complex, and one that is easy to train store associates on all technical levels. After the successful pilot, DSW completed a chain-wide roll out of the !D Top with installations already completed, and deployments in 50-70 stores per year
