The trend of constantly increasing video systems and camera resolutions puts higher and higher demands on video management software. For SeeTec this has been the reason to focus intensely on performance and scalability aspects during the development period of the recent product release SeeTec Cayuga R7.

The server-based motion detection has been optimized: now 50 channels in HD resolution can be run on one server to alarm the security staff in case of relevant events or to save storage capacity.

The performance of visualization has been increased by up to 50% by optimizing the rendering and decoding components. In practice this means that especially the resources of the client workstation can be used more efficiently, which allows it to display more cameras simultaneously maintaining a fluent image. The web client has also been overhauled, now providing significantly higher bit rates than in previous versions combined with access to the whole archive period. It also uses the available network resources in a more efficient way, which leads to an improved transmission of images especially in narrow bandwidth environments. Furthermore, the server-based motion detection has been optimized: now 50 channels in HD resolution can be run on one server to alarm the security staff in case of relevant events or to save storage capacity.

Based on the "Smart Driver" approach a variety of new cameras and encoders have been certified for the use with SeeTec Cayuga. This includes new support for Abus IP cameras as well as a Smart Driver for Arecont Vision supporting all models from this manufacturer based on current firmware. For faster PTZ operations SeeTec Cayuga supports the "Click to Center" mode for a set of manufacturers as an additional option: clicking a certain spot within the camera view will cause the camera to center on this position. SeeTec Cayuga R7 also provides new possibilities when it comes to video analytics: based on the SeeTec Analytics Interface, which allows a flexible, driver-based integration of analytics applications in SeeTec Cayuga, a plugin was developed to receive triggers coming from Traficon "Flux" traffic analytics software. Also the support of analytics algorithms by IPS has been extended and now also covers their server-based solutions.

With SeeTec Cayuga R7 the licensing of video encoders has changed. While until SeeTec Cayuga R6 one camera license was required per analogue camera channel, licensing is now based on IP addresses used by the device. This means that a four channel video encoder using just one IP address will now require just one instead of four camera licenses. Especially for migration projects, this facilitates a cost-efficient switch to IP video.

SeeTec Cayuga R7 is available from now on and can of course be used with systems based on Microsoft Windows 10.
