GKB protects Thailand's EGAT with fire and smoke detection system

Background:
EGAT is Thailand’s leading state-owned power utility under the Ministry of Energy, responsible for electric power generation, transmission for the whole country, as well as bulk electric energy sales. It's the largest power producer in Thailand, owning and operating power plants of different types and sizes which are located in 40 sites across the country with a total installed capacity of 15,010.13 MW. The power generation facilities consists of 3 thermal power plants, 6 combined cycle power plants, 22 hydropower plants, 8 renewable energy plants, and a diesel power plant. EGAT also owns and operates a high voltage transmission network which covers all parts of the country. Under the enhanced single buyer (ESB) model of Thailand’s electricity supply industry, EGAT is the single buyer, purchasing bulk electricity from private power producers and neighboring countries, and selling wholesale electric energy to two distributing authorities and a small number of direct industrial customers as well as neighboring utilities.

Solution:
EGAT required a fire alarm system to protect its equipment in the power plant. GKB VFDS adapts VID technology to conquer the limitation of traditional fire detection system, especially for an open-space environment just like the power plant, EGAT used VFDS solution to meet their needs.
