Sonardyne International, specialists in subsea navigation and positioning technology, has opened its first permanent office in France to expand its presence in the region. The announcement follows the opening of a second Sonardyne office in Brazil earlier this year, underlining the company’s commitment to positioning the organisation closer to the commercial and operational centres of its global customer base.

Located in Haut de Cagnes, 10 minutes from Nice International Airport, the new office will be staffed by Aude Kuchly who joined Sonardyne as Sales Manager in 2011, bringing with her many years of commercial success operating within the oil and gas and oceanographic sectors.

Sonardyne’s acoustic, inertial, sonar and optical equipment is used by commercial, hydrographic and research organisations across Europe to support a wide range of underwater surveying and monitoring operations. The company’s product range is continually being expanded to meet users’ need for more capable and versatile underwater technology that saves time and reduces risk. In April, Sonardyne introduced Syrinx, its first Doppler Velocity Log (DVL) to aid the navigation of ROVs and AUVs.

Opening a dedicated office in France will allow Sonardyne to have greater contact with users across southern Europe in order to better understand their application, identify future requirements and develop business relationships. Equipment stock holding, servicing, calibration and repair activities will continue to be handled through Sonardyne’s Europe and West Africa operations centre in Aberdeen.

“Being located close to clients through our international office network is a cornerstone of our business model” said Aude Kuchly. “I’m delighted that France is the latest pin on the Sonardyne world map and feel confident that we can provide an enhanced level of in-country support to existing and potential new customers.” She went on to say, “We look forward to servicing clients’ requirements in the region, especially in the field of Ocean Sciences. The new office will also provide specialist workshops and due to its location, offer deep water demonstrations in Villefranche sur mer.”
