IDIS announced that Sedar, a leading brand in the world of window fashion and fine furnishings, has rolled out IDIS DirectIP full-HD surveillance across is sales, manufacturing and warehousing operations in the Middle East.

Headquartered in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sedar employs 2,500 people serving a multicultural base of middle to high-end income customers. With ambitious expansion plans, Sedar wanted to increase the security and safety of its customers and staff, increase productivity and manage authorised entry into company premises. The company also wanted added flexibility to help maintain quality control across the business and to ensure compliance with best working practices.

After careful evaluation, Sedar selected IDIS DirectIP based on its high performance, quality, low cost of ownership and the customer service and responsiveness of the IDIS sales and technical team. DirectIP offered Sedar a complete end-to-end solution comprising a range of IP cameras, Network Video Recorders (NVRs), monitors, bundled IDIS Center™ Video Management Software (VMS) plus switching hubs and accessories.

Following a successful trial in March 2014, Sedar began a phased roll out of a 400+ camera and forty NVR DirectIP solution across its UAE multi-site company headquarters, twenty plus prime location showrooms, a 50,000 square metre distribution centre in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and eight major warehouses.

Plug and play simplicity meant the installation was completed with minimal engineer training and no disruption to routine operations. At each location installation took approximately two days including all infrastructure, configuration, and commissioning. A control centre at Sedar’s

Sharjar headquarters coordinates centralised live monitoring of all locations by a small team of operators. Supporting Sedar expansion plans, the company can easily extend video surveillance connectivity to each new international location that comes online, including franchise operations worldwide.

Imad Najjar, Sedar Marketing Manager said: “Sedar is a trusted brand with a strong commitment to quality. To uphold our high standards while supporting an ambitious multinational growth strategy, we wanted a state-of-the-art security surveillance system that offered exceptional performance without placing a heavy burden on company time and resources. We were immediately impressed with IDIS DirectIP™. It was user friendly, technically robust and offered everything we required – it was in a different class.”

Since implementing the solution, Sedar has reported a 10% increase in staff productivity, fewer reports of unauthorised access to company premises and fewer calls to investigate potential concerns about employee behaviour.

Harry Kwon, General Manager, IDIS Middle East, noted: “The speed of the Sedar rollout across multiple international sites is testament to DirectIP’s true plug-and-play simplicity, which also eases the burden of routine maintenance. Combining this with no annual license fees and low power consumption, we were able to offer Sedar an industry-leading low cost of ownership, while enabling significant operational efficiencies. We look forward to working with the Sedar team as they continue to expand their operations across the region.”

Sedar is pursuing an ambitious growth strategy, including franchise opportunities, to further extend its reach. During 2015 new retail outlets are due to open in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region that will implement IDIS DirectIP for all security and safety operations.
