Condominium in Brazil installs Axis full HDTV cameras

Mission
The Helbor Magnifique residential condominium, located in downtown Joinville, in the state of Santa Catarina, Brazil, is comprised of three 18-story towers, with two units on each floor. More than 100 families come and go at all hours using three separate entrances, overseen by a 24-hour security desk that also monitors vehicles entering and leaving the development's parking area, with nearly 350 parking spaces. The video surveillance system therefore needed to be able to handle the size and busy activity of the condominium development.

Solution
A study was conducted to identify the surveillance points needed to provide complete coverage of the condominium facility, including all common areas and entrances for residents, employees, and service providers, among others, as well as the surrounding areas. The study suggested installing 79 Axis network cameras. Traders Service, an Axis partner, installed AXIS P1357 full HDTV network cameras, along with Axis high-resolution models AXIS P1354 and AXIS M2014-E. The elevators were equipped with AXIS M3113-R units. All cameras are managed using software from Aimetis, another Axis partner.

Result
The Helbor Magnifique condominium became a trendsetter in Brazil as the first residential building to install a professional video surveillance system using full HD cameras. The wide coverage provided by these cameras enables 24-hour surveillance of building interiors and the surrounding area, ensuring that all residents enjoy the sense of security that they expect at home.

Mixed transmission mode
Due to the horizontal and vertical distances the video surveillance system needed to cover, Traders Service chose to use Ethernet cabling throughout the project, except in the elevators. In order to avoid running cables over the entire 70 meters between the lowest level of the garage and the top floor of the buildings, Traders Service opted for wireless transmission using AXIS M3113-R Network Cameras. The client said that the motors did not create any interference in the image quality provided by the cameras. In such a varied environment, the ability to create appropriate solutions for each space was essential. The entire property, covering 130,000 square feet, has a recreational area that includes swimming pools, saunas, a spa, yoga room, multi-sports court, fitness area, playroom, party rooms, home cinema, home office facilities and a games room, as well as gardens and patios, adding complexity to the undertaking's security needs. Some 31 AXIS M1054 units were installed in the hallways in the residential and service areas. There is also an AXIS M2014-E bullet-style camera in the corridor leading to the service entrance using Corridor Format, a feature unique to Axis. This transforms the 16:9 HDTV camera image aspect ratio to 9:16 - ideal for corridors, entryways or narrow passages. This feature maximizes image quality and eliminates wasted bandwidth and storage space.
The underground garage has three interconnected levels that have access to the shared service area and elevators. 18 AXIS P1354 day/night camera units were installed here, providing fixed video surveillance offering high performance, robust design. Another nineteen AXIS P1357 units were installed to cover the outdoor areas of the condominium; these allow large areas to be scanned, while maintaining exceptional image detail. These day/night cameras feature a P-Iris lens to provide optimal image clarity.
