Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi plans to launch MiWiFi, a new 802.11ac router with built-in home automation features powered by BroadLink. Xiaomi is a mobile Internet company that makes a wide range of devices. Its main products are smartphones, which outsell Apple's iPhone in China. The company is best known for its ability to offer high-end, high quality products at cut-throat prices. Xiaomi is one of the leading tech firms in China and, according to the company, is currently valued at more than US$10 billion USD.

BroadLink is a smart home solutions company based in China. Its RM2 360 is an IR hub of sorts that allows users to toss away the many remote controls lying around and control home appliances through a smartphone app. The company also makes Wi-Fi smart plugs and switches. Xiaomi will integrate controls for BroadLink's smart home solution into the router's smartphone app, providing users with a unified UI to control their home appliances and other Xiaomi products, such as its Android-powered set-top-box and smart TV.
