Morpho (Safran) announced that it is the first card manufacturer to receive certification by Deutsche Kreditwirtschaft [1] for implementation of a SECCOS operating system on a flash semiconductor. Compared to other memory types, this platform shortens development cycles and creates greater flexibility in reacting to card issuers' needs and evolving market requirements.
Initially developed for Morpho's SECCOS dual interface product, which enables card holders to perform contact and contactless payment transactions, this new highly secure platform can now be integrated in the entire Morpho SECCOS range.
Morpho's R&D Center in Paderborn, Germany, is responsible for this successful innovation. With 140 employees, this Global Competence Center focuses on leading-edge technologies such as NFC for mobile/contactless payment applications, Long Term Evolution, Machine-to-Machine, payment and health solutions.
Jürgen Günther, VP of R&D at Morpho, e-Documents Division in Paderborn, stated: “We are proud to be the first provider of SECCOS products on a flash platform. Milestones of this sort show our developers' dedication to making continuous improvements. As a result, our Global Competence Center R&D in Paderborn strengthens Morpho's position as a high-end technology provider.”
