The New York State Supreme Court purchased Smiths Detection's Heimann X-ray inspection system scanners to strengthen security at 19 of its facilities throughout the state. More than ten thousand units from the series have already been installed around the world.
The compact X-ray inspection system with 24 bit real-time image processing and the compact desktop X-ray solution for mobile and stationary applications help protect judicial and correctional facilities, schools, mailrooms and entrance halls from the threat of dangerous weapons and contraband. The scanners are ideal for contact-free inspection of pouches, bags, letters or packages.
The X-ray scanners are manufactured at Smiths main U.S. plant in Edgewood, Maryland. The site recently expanded by some 2.3 acres (100,000 square feet) to accommodate manufacturing for the company's X-ray, baggage screening, and security scanning systems for North and South American customers.
