We Brits are conservative. We've been quite slow in switching over to IP, but 2011 was really a “lightbulb” moment as people started to see the benefits that IP has brought to other parts of the world. Last year, we trained more than 500 partners in the U.K. alone. For the Nordics, everything went digital quite fast. Penetration rates of IP-based systems now are about 10 to 20 percent and 55 percent for the U.K. and Sweden, respectively.

With our cloud, more cost-effective and low-light offerings, we are better enabled to reach partners and installers with smaller business operations. We've been “cloud-friendly” for more than nine years, so it just shows we were right all along. Globally, we will continue to invest in technology and innovation; as proof, 13.6 percent of our revenue last year was earmarked for such efforts. Across the globe, we have eight regional divisions that know the locals really well and deliver the kinds of solutions, education and support that are truly needed.
