The multi award winning Kinlay Hostel in Galway, Ireland, has upgraded its security arrangements with a tailored electronic access control solution from Salto.

After extensive renovations the newly refurbished Kinlay Hostel, which is located in the heart of the city centre, on the corner of Eyre Square, opened in January 2012.

Its first rate amenities, modern decor, bright lighting and fun atmosphere all impressed the judges as did the owners passion for looking after their guests. This attention to detail extended to ensuring that guest security was paramount during their stay leading the owners to choose a class leading hospitality access solution from Salto to provide 24/7 control of who can access what, where and when.

To achieve this Doorware Architectural Access Solutions Ltd installed over 55 battery operated stand alone electronic smart locks in a brushed stainless steel finish into all the bedrooms, as well as a DIN glass door lock on a frameless glass back office door, and a hard wired smart card wall reader and on-line control unit on a further back office double door.

The installation of the Salto access platform needed no hard wiring, and provides a ‘wire-free', networked, electronic access solution that takes full advantages of the Salto Virtual Network(SVN).

This enables Kinlay Hostel's wire-free locks to be networked to their PC server without wires, infrared, or Wi-Fi. The link that enables this communication is carried by the ‘intelligent' smart card used by guests and staff which is a 2-way data transporter that grants access to bedrooms, back office doors etc.
