DigitalPersona announced that Mecosta County Medical Center (MCMC) has deployed DigitalPersona software and Fingerprint Readers as the foundation for a new identity and access management infrastructure. With DigitalPersona Pro software and fingerprint biometrics, MCMC is able to provide unique digital identities to their employees quickly and easily. With these new identities in place, MCMC employees are able to use in-room VMware virtual “follow-me” desktops while ensuring secure access to sensitive patient information.

Mecosta County Medical Center is a 74-bed acute-care hospital with more than 700 employees serving the needs of patients in West-Central Michigan. MCMC evaluated RFID badges and camera identification technology, but selected the combined DigitalPersona software/fingerprint reader solution because it provided the most cost-effective and user-friendly method for unique IDs. DigitalPersona's tight integration with Microsoft Active Directory enabled MCMC to leverage their existing directory infrastructure to create identities and provision security policies across the organization. With the VMware VDI integration, employees can travel between rooms and departments, quickly pulling up their working desktop in each location with only the touch of a finger. MCMC has already experienced an immediate reduction in password reset calls to their helpdesk as a result of this deployment.
