ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions has supplied door-opening solutions, door closers and other access-control solutions to City West Housing Trust regeneration project in Salford Greater Manchester, UK.

As part of an ongoing project to install more than 900 doors across low-rise social housing blocks in Salford, Greater Manchester, UK, ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions has worked alongside commercial aluminum supplier Total Glass Limited to provide security and accessibility solutions that are well adapted to communal living applications.

Architectural hardware for the project consisted of ASSA ABLOY cam-motion door closers and electric solenoid bolts.

ASSA ABLOY cam-motion closers maintain closing power but require less force at the beginning of the opening cycle – the most strenuous part of opening a door. The adjustable force feature makes the ASSA ABLOY door-closer range particularly suitable for use by elderly or disabled people and assists social housing landlords in fulfilling their duties under the Equality Act 2010.

The Adam's Rite 1391 electric solenoid bolts installed at the City West Housing Trust project are ideal for use on social housing blocks where both tenant security and visitor accessibility are important and a robust, reliable solution is paramount. These locks are easily integrated as part of an access-control system or through remote control equipment like a push button, keypad or timer. The 1391 electric solenoid bolt can facilitate remote access and exit control of aluminum, timber and steel doors. The 16mm throw of the stainless steel bolt has held under 13,000N of side load, allowing it to be used in door sets.
