Aptina, a leading provider of CMOS image sensor solutions to the industry's popular, mainstream and high-end surveillance camera manufacturers announced the launch of its new MT9P006 high definition (HD) 5MP image sensor. Designed to meet the growing needs of the dynamic, quality-focused surveillance IP camera market, the new 2.2-micron, 1/2.5-inch optical format sensor is engineered with Aptina A-Pix pixel technology. This pixel technology improves performance and enables the image sensor with video capture capabilities critical to the surveillance market, including enhanced low light sensitivity, reduced pixel noise, enhanced color fidelity, and bright light performance.

The third HD image sensor in Aptina's surveillance portfolio (MT9M034, AR0331), the MT9P006 image sensor's low light and dynamic range capabilities enable vibrant, accurate color, and detail-rich HD video capture at 720p/60fps and 1080p/30fps in a variety of lighting conditions.

“Aptina always strives for improvement within its image clarity and scene detail for surveillance camera applications. These improvements are what differentiate our solutions in the marketplace,” said David Zimpfer, VP and GM of Aptina's surveillance business. “With the addition of the 5-megapixel MT9P006, Aptina offers a complete portfolio of image sensors and SOCs to address the needs of our surveillance customers with high performance, high resolution sensors as well as value-focused sensors.”
