A Salto access control system has been installed in the BioDonostia Research Center, a new facility created by the Basque Health Service Osakidetza, to provide 24/7 security control to the building's many doors.

The huge variety of doors in the center made a traditional access control solution impossible, but Salto was able to deliver a tailored package that met every challenge thanks to its complete platform product range.

Secure, flexible, easy to install and use, Salto electronic locking system is a solution based on design and innovation. It incorporates the latest technologies such as a wireless system that provides real-time access without the need for wiring. It is this solution that has been installed at the BioDonostia center.

The Salto wireless access control system requires no hard wiring of doors, but allows the system operator to see who has entered the building, through which door and when. In short, this is an offline system without wiring but with all the features and capabilities of an online system for real-time door management.

The center wanted to create a virtually ‘keyless building', replacing mechanical keys with a multiapplication contactless smart-card system. This would give them an access management solution that was both flexible and secure, and provide them with unlimited versatility when issuing or deleting access cards, issuing access times.

A spokesperson for the centre comments “ In this type of building which, by its very nature and the type of activity carried out has a high turnover of staff with very different user access profiles, the new access system has given us flexibility, convenience and security, " said a spokesperson for the center.
