Genetec, a provider of IP security solutions, expanded its custom solutions development team with the acquisition of Sipelia.

Sipelia is a privately-held software company based in Paris, France, that specializes in the development of custom software solutions. Sipelia’s cofounders will play pivotal roles in Genetec’s services offered to channel partners. Specifically, José Bréval will lead the development and management of the worldwide custom solutions team for Genetec. Rémi Bréval will lead the development efforts on Plan Manager, an interactive map-based command and control application built by Sipelia for use with Genetec’s IP video surveillance system, using the SDK. Bréval will also lead other future products and add-on modules with the new Paris team.

“We intend that these activities of Sipelia become an integral part of Genetec’s business,” said Pierre Racz, Genetec’s CEO. “With this acquisition, Genetec expands its customs solutions capability, and acquires one of the best applications ever built.”

Sipelia’s Plan Manager has gained recognition in the physical security industry, being installed in international sports stadium, airports and cities, amongst other places. In a stadium application for example, operators use an interactive map of the stadium layout to select a seat. Instantly, the closest cameras will PTZ to the requested seat and the videos will be displayed.

“Working with Genetec’s solutions and team over the years as we developed Plan Manager has given us an appreciation for the innovation and flexibility of this organization,” said José Bréval, Cofounder of Sipelia. “In many respects, our mission, culture and values are very similar. We look forward to sharing our expertise, exchanging ideas and merging our teams to continue developing security solutions.”
