India’s Manipal Press sought a surveillance system to monitor the production process as well as employee activities. Vivotek’s system integrator in India helped Manipal to deploy such a system using Vivotek’s network cameras.

A total of 26 network cameras from Vivotek were installed around Manipal’s production facility. A CMS platform supporting 32 channels was used to enhance system administration efficiency. Client software was also installed at corporate headquarters located five kilometers from the factory.

Network cameras were installed every 60 meters so that the entire production area was covered, including passages, loading/unloading bays, the reception area, warehouse, shredding room, IT room, server room and administrative offices where network infrastructure was already in place. The cameras were connected to the facility’s LAN via PoE-enabled switches, reducing cabling cost.

The IP surveillance system has improved the administrator’s control over the entire production process and administrative areas. "The system is helping us monitor the factory in real time. I can control the process activities effectively while sitting in my cubicle," said the administrator. “Also, the scalability of CMS really benefits us a lot because we plan to scale up the system in the future to meet our growing needs.”
