American Science and Engineering, (AS&E), reported that it has received a Termination for Convenience for its US$11.8 million MobileSearch system order from US Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The original order was announced in a press release on April 1. As is customary for US government awards, the order was subject to Termination for Convenience, a standard provision in government contracts which gives the government the right to terminate a contract in whole or part without the fault of the contractor. The order was included in backlog in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2010 (ending March 31, 2010) and will be removed from backlog in the first quarter of fiscal year 2011 (ending June 30, 2010). CBP has indicated that they intend to reevaluate the proposals in the format of a Corrective Action process.
