Sagem Morpho is the first biometric technology company to become an affiliate member of the Center for Identification Technology Research (CITeR). As a CITeR affiliate, Sagem Morpho joins FBI, DHS, DoD and several other high-profile federal agencies and the top U.S. prime integrators in researching the implementation of biometric identification technologies.

"We feel we have an important role to play in CITeR as a biometric technology company, completing the circle between academics generating ideas, primes integrating the core technology and the end user,” said Sagem Morpho CEO Bernard Gautier. “It's a privilege to support fellow member institutions like West Virginia University and the FBI in the continued advancement of state-of-the-art biometric technology.”

As a developer of biometric technologies, Sagem Morpho offers a variety of multibiometric platforms that include fingerprint, palm print, facial and iris recognition systems implemented worldwide in border security, law enforcement, access control and ID management applications.

"CITeR is extremely pleased to welcome Sagem Morpho as a new Center affiliate,” said Larry Hornak, CITeR Co-Director. “Sagem Morpho's affiliation will be a tremendous asset to CITeR serving to diversify and further strengthen the value of our cooperative research portfolio to the Center's affiliates, faculty, and students.”

Founded at West Virginia University, CITeR (www.citer.wvu.edu/) is the only National Science Foundation (NSF) Industry/University Cooperative Research Center (I/UCRC) focusing on serving its affiliates in the rapidly growing area of Biometric Identification and Credibility Assessment Technology. Its mission to advance identification technology is strongly focused in the areas of biometric systems and credibility assessment. The CITeR portfolio of activities achieves this mission through cross-cutting research of emerging enabling technologies, interdisciplinary training of scientists and engineers, and facilitation of technology transfer to the private and government sectors through its affiliates.
