INSIGHTS
Reach Systems announced it formed a partnership with Axis Communications, the global provider in the network video market, and Secure-i, a video hosting service to deliver fully integrated access control and IP video as a managed service. As a result of this development partnership, Reach will now be able to offer its customers IP-based video surveillance that can be associated with a range of physical security devices, such as access control, alarms and environmental monitoring. The Reach hosted solution will allow users to attach video to each unauthorized access attempt or perimeter security breach, eliminating the need to search for and match video content to security events. And the user will be able to do this without the need for local NVR's, storage devices, or local servers because all of the application software and storage are remotely hosted.

And the user will be able to do this without the need for local NVR's, storage devices, or local servers because all of the application software and storage are remotely hosted.

The integrated IP-based solution will allow users to receive and forward both live and recorded video through the standard Reach Web browser-based interface. The integrated solution dramatically increases the situational awareness capabilities of IP video surveillance systems at a cost that makes it affordable for customers with remote sites.

"We deliberately designed our platform and service delivery model to drive down the cost of security deployments for those customers who have to manage many remote sites centrally while allowing our channel partners to create profitable recurring revenue from managed services" said Glenn Forrester, Reach Systems founder and CEO. "However, what makes us unique is that our platform is open for connecting all manner of devices which allows us to very quickly package "segment specific" solutions for the market that even go beyond physical security. This will be the first fully remote hosted, integrated access and video solution and it will change the current price/performance paradigm and put this technology in the hands of customers who have historically been unable to afford it."

The company is currently beta testing the hosted video solution and expects to be ready for commercial launch in April 2009.
