Hikvision has hosted its third annual SMB event showcasing how AI delivers practical value for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) and the installers and integrators who serve them. Called “Unlock AI, Unlock SMB Growth,” the event was part of HikTech Star Tour 2026, a global campaign and contest run by Hikvision for security professionals. It spanned five areas – safer sites, smoother access, converged systems, smarter service, and efficient teaching – with highlights including Hikvision’s first 16 MP UHD cameras for the SMB market, Guanlan Encoding for lower video storage costs, and eight converged SMB solutions.

“Technologies empower industries only when they create real value,” said Jason Yang, Vice President of Hikvision International Business Center. “That’s why we developed over 400 scenario-based solutions across 10-plus industries, backed by more than 1,000 customer cases, helping customers unlock new opportunities and gain a future-ready edge.”

For SMBs, Hikvision is applying this scenario-based approach with AI products and tools they can put to work right away, helping them get more from their systems than security alone.

AI for Safer Sites: detecting more risks while lowering costs

At the event, Hikvision demonstrated how its Guanlan large-scale AI models have extended AI from basic object detection to scenario-specific analytics that recognize actions such as falling or smoking. For example, when a camera spots someone smoking at a gas station, it triggers an audio and visual alarm on-site so staff can step in before the situation escalates. SMB operators can customize automated alerts by describing what matters to their site. After an incident, the AcuSeek capability enables them to find footage with a typed or spoken query.

Hikvision also introduced its new Pro-Series UHD cameras, including 16 MP dual-lens models that deliver a seamless, wide-angle view, so a single camera can cover a larger area at SMB sites. To offset the extra storage that higher resolution requires, the company highlighted Guanlan Encoding, which keeps people and vehicles clear while reducing background data. Hikvision’s internal tests show average storage savings of 30%–50%.

AI for Smoother Access: faster entry and simpler management

Hikvision showcased Quick Pass, its comprehensive access control solutions for people and vehicles.

At site entrances, AI face recognition and license plate recognition work with automatic gates and barriers, so employees, residents, and vehicles pass through without searching for cards or stopping for manual checks.

Behind the entrances, administrators manage people and vehicle access in one system rather than switching between separate ones. What’s more, they can do this using natural language. They can type or speak a request – such as adding a new user, adjusting permissions, or issuing a visitor pass – so a task that once took several configuration steps is done in one go.

AI for Converged Systems: connecting systems to deliver smarter responses

A key demonstration featured eight converged SMB solutions, each linking two or more types of security systems so they do more together than any one could alone.

One example is a voice warning composed on the spot. A camera recognizes a trespasser’s attributes, AI turns what it sees into a description, and an IP speaker plays the description as a warning addressed to that person: “Sir in the gray shirt and green pants, please keep away.”

Beyond AI deterrence, other combinations simplify daily routines. When an authorized face is recognized at the door, for example, the alarm system can disarm automatically, so staff arriving early no longer set off false alarms. For sites with higher security needs, ANPR and face recognition can work in tandem, opening the barrier only when both the driver and the license plate are verified.

Across these systems, HIKO, the AI engine in Hik-Connect 7 and HikCentral Professional, cuts down the manual configuration and searching that SMB operators have to do. AI Summary condenses a camera’s past 24 hours into an overview that takes minutes to read, Video Q&A answers direct questions about a scene, and Fusion Search combines video, access control, and license plate data so that, after an incident, operators can trace where the person involved has been.

AI for Smarter Service: automated design and always-on assistance

Hikvision also demonstrated how the AI tools embedded in Hik-Partner Pro make life easier for installers.

HPP Designer reads an uploaded floor plan, recommends devices, and places them automatically with coverage simulation. Hik Chatbot answers questions about product selection, technical support, and solution design around the clock.

AI for Efficient Teaching: easier preparation and more engaged classrooms

Additionally, the event introduced Hikvision’s expanded WonderHub ecosystem, which harnesses the power of AI to support teachers and students before, during, and after their time in the classroom.

Before class, WonderHub Class, a cloud-based teaching platform, helps teachers turn an idea into a full lesson. In class, WonderOmi answers students’ questions, and after class, AI helps teachers grade assignments and draft feedback.

Installer partners: sharing results from the field

A Pakistani partner named CCTV Installer showed how they covered the open areas of a 20,230 m² agrochemical site with 4G solar-powered cameras and introduced face-recognition attendance at the client’s head office. SLH Sicherheit showed how they linked the buildings of a German gas station with Wi-Fi bridges, avoiding new cabling, and the client now uses AcuSeek every day to locate footage of incidents and deliveries. TG Security Systems, meanwhile, explained how they deployed people counting cameras to reveal traffic patterns across the stores of a South African fashion retailer. According to TG, the visitor data showed one store attracting a younger customer base, and the client adjusted its merchandising accordingly, which in turn boosted sales.
