Secutech International Security Exhibition and Conference, Asia’s leading security trade event, kicked off May 7 in Taipei, showcasing made-in-Taiwan, NDAA-compliant technologies that address users’ security and non-security needs.
The 26th edition of the show is held over a three-day duration at the Nangang Exhibition Hall. This year nearly 400 companies are exhibiting at the show, running a total of 505 booths across six major pavilions including AI Innovation Application Zone, Smart Home and Building Pavilion and Security and AIoT Smart Security Pavilion. Exhibitors come from nine countries including Taiwan, Japan, Australia, Korea, Spain, United States, China, Germany and Singapore.
Aside from the exhibition itself, a total of 133 seminar sessions were also held alongside the show covering 20 topics ranging from AIoT to smart transportation. As for visitors, some 15,000 visitors attended the show. These include nearly 700 overseas visitors from countries including Japan, Singapore, China, Thailand, Indonesia and the U.S.
From regular AI models to VLMs
AI is a recurring theme running throughout the show this year. Specifically, AI trained on vision-language models (VLMs) is now trending. VIVOTEK, for example, has on display their VORTEX solution coupled with VLM. VORTEX is VIVOTEK’s cloud technology that provides various benefits. Instead of purchasing NVRs, servers or other expensive equipment, VORTEX requires only cameras on site and handles processing and storage all in the cloud on a subscription basis, making it ideal for end user organizations that operate multiple sites and rely on central management. With VLM, VORTEX is becoming even more powerful as all the user needs to do is enter a search query, for example ‘show me all video with people holding a cup of coffee,’ and the system will retrieve relevant results in no time, significantly reducing search and investigation time.
Scaring suspects away instantly
Merit LILIN, meanwhile, displayed a variety of solutions that address various user challenges and pain points. Examples include AI-powered thermal imaging solutions where AI is applied to thermal images, allowing the system to detect people or incoming vehicles even in total darkness, making it especially ideal for places such as harbors and prisons. The solution includes a thermal unit and a visible light unit to allow users to switch between both modes. However, it should be noted that conventional detection solutions lack a deterrent function; an incident may have already happened when related authorities are alerted and arrive at the scene. That’s where LILIN’s strobe light warning system comes in. The system is consisted of a camera and a warning light; once the camera detects a possible intruder it will trigger the warning light to flash. With this, chances are the suspect will be scared away instantly, and a criminal act can be prevented.
Parking made smarter
Smar parking has become a major trend in cities across the globe. In this regard, Hunt has a range of solutions. One of them is a parking kiosk with a sensor and a camera – the former senses a vehicle and the latter takes the vehicle’s license plate number. This makes parking management smarter and more automated. Also, with electric vehicles (EVs) on the rise, Hunt has a smart parking solution targeting EVs. It is installed on the ground and senses the chassis of an EV, where the battery and other important components are located. Once the battery becomes overheated, the solution will sense it and alert the user. Hunt also has several 4G/5G-enabled cameras on display, meeting the needs of users in remote locations where laying cables is difficult.
