“Honeywell has been providing access control systems for over two decades now. We keep improving our solutions to become more holistic, so we build an integrated ecosystem where access control, surveillance cameras, visitor management, intrusion management, building management and other systems co-exist, leverage, and complement each other,” said Gopi Venkatesan, Access Control Product Marketing Manager, Asia Pacific, Honeywell Security Group.

Jerry Jia, R&D Director, Video & Access LOB Leader, Asia Pacific, Honeywell Security Group also said “we design with end-users' perspectives. That is, we take into consideration that customers want to invest in solutions high in reliability, compatibility, and with great ease of use; in addition, low in cost of total ownership.”

Access control can witness the expansion of a business environment and often needs updates as access authorization changes. Therefore, when talking about economical ownership, it is not to overlook the associated costs for scalability, configuration, and maintenance of the system. Not relying on hardware-based connections anymore, “management via software is done easily by clients as any other IT systems if the server is set up at their end; or, if they choose to have web-based access control, the system integrators can easily upgrade or alter the system from the cloud,” said Jia.

Honeywell expects to generate a double-digit growth in Asia's access control market. Venkatesan and Jia commented that most demands come from banking, industrial, government, and commercial sectors. Although the remote access control may still need some time to be accepted and trusted by the Asian market, this transition will pose no challenge as consumers are getting used to a lifestyle inseparable with mobile technology.
