Merit LILIN safeguards Genomics research center, Taiwan

Due to the variety of toxic chemicals and hazardous materials used in a laboratory, research facility is challenged to create productive environment while ensuring the protection and safety of scientists and other laboratory personnel.

Genomics Research Center, Academia Sinica (GRC) established critical facilities in 2003 for cell biology and biomedical technology development, including mass spectrometer proteomic facility, genomic research, NMR and X-ray facility for structure determination, microarray, etc.

Planning to deploy cameras for operational monitoring and safety purposes, GRC chose IP solutions from LILIN to ensure safety and security for its staff, researchers and scientists, making sure the facility is a safe place in which to teach, learn and work.


The 2-megapixel LILIN observational cameras, IPD2122 and IPR320ESX with tamper detection were the chosen solution. LILIN fixed domes, via PoE, have been positioned around the GRC laboratory facilities. LILIN observational cameras that allow an operator to move the camera view around the room and also zoom in on areas of the room as needed. LILIN solutions provide multiple streams, video cropping and activity adaptive streaming for dynamic frame rate control on LILIN IP based cameras – effective for solving any potential bandwidth issues. Every floor has its own CMX and storage, and it is connected via optic fiber to a centralized monitoring system, which is situated in the main server room.
