Absolute Living (Thailand), a new long-stay operator, has expressed a strong determination to provide good retirement homes for the elderly with the launch of its first project in Pattaya.
The project, the Long Lake Hillside Resort, due to open its doors this month, is 10-minute drive from central Pattaya. It has 36 villas to accommodate about 50 seniors. Managing director Pensiri Panyarachun said the company sees a lot of demand for high-quality retirement homes for Thais, who are living longer due to healthy lifestyles and medical advancements.
Ms Pensiri said retirement housing projects are growing in popularity and some Thais are gradually accepting that they can send their senior relatives to stay for a while.
They can stay for up to 12 months. Amenities include a library, games room, movie hall, cooking class, arts and crafts, gardening and morning exercise and tour.
"We will attract potential customers by allowing them to have a trial stay with us. They will have a real experience and will decide whether they would like to stay with us more in the future," Ms Pensiri said.
Guests' family members can stay nearby inside the resort. This strategy lets family members make sure parents and grandparents are happy with their stay.
