The competition to seize the 5G connection market has begun. Already China, Europe, America, and Japan are making movements to acquire the 5G technology. For South Korea, it is planned to be tested in 2018 and will be commercialized to the public around 2020. To make this happen, South Korea's government is planning to spend U$495 million as the budget.
5G strategizing team had open professional debate in Seoul on the 19th (KST) and emphasized on the vision and importance of this future communication and plans to acquire it.
The 5G strategizing team is asking industry-academic cooperation to stabilize and improve the new smart phone ecosystem. For this to happen, they are pursuing an open innovation, helping mid-small companies with 5G technology to go into the international market and creating more opportunities for the cooperation group to participate.
The budget for 5G includes, technology development cost, standardizing and international cooperation cost, and other needed cost, adding up to total of 495 million USD until 2020.
