Bosch IP video solution for outstanding security at German race track

Motorsport and running events, driving safety courses, and open-air concerts: the Hockenheimring in south of Mannheim, Germany spans nearly 97 hectares with a motor racing circuit length of nearly five kilometers. The grandstands have room for 120,000 spectators, and they will once again be filled to capacity when fans crowd in to watch the big motor racings.
 
The Hockenheimring welcomes more than 700,000 visitors a year. Therefore, protecting people and property at the events is of high priority. To achieve this, a solution planned and implemented by Bosch helps to prevent and investigate criminal offences. A state-of-the-art video security system with more than 64 IP cameras monitors the entrances and exits, the grandstands and adjacent areas, as well as the entire racing circuit. The video solutions delivers high-resolution images, also in challenging lighting conditions.
 
All cameras are networked via a central video management system. Among other things, the police can access them live and via mobile links. The video security system is also used to monitor the 2,000 squaremeter motorsport museum, for which Bosch experts additionally implemented a fire alarm and intrusion detection solution to safeguard its 300 historic racecars and motorcycles. The Hockenheimring additionally uses the video cameras as webcams and for documenting long-term construction projects.
