Security starts at the perimeter
Adding a perimeter intrusion detection system (PIDS) to a site greatly increases its security and leverages the value of existing assets like security fences and surveillance systems. Senstar offers site owners and system integrators a wide variety of technologies to choose from, including fence-mounted sensors (FlexZone and FiberPatrol), intelligent lighting with embedded detection sensors (Senstar LM100), microwave sensors (UltraWave), and buried RF (OmniTrax).
Intrusion attempts can also be detected via video analytics. Senstar's advanced analytics, built into its Symphony video management software, use sophisticated algorithms that detect and classify the presence of people, vehicles and objects while rejecting vegetation movement and shadows.
Better integration equals better security
When properly deployed and integrated, perimeter sensors, video management software, video analytics and access control can work together to offer new capabilities that greatly enhance security at a relatively low cost:
- Detect and track people on both sides of the perimeter fences to provide early warning of potential security events before they can occur. This early warning can be used to direct PTZ cameras, so that high-resolution video can be captured of the intruder at the time the alarm (from the fence sensor) is generated.
- Perimeter intrusion detection sensors are unaffected by weather conditions like dense fog, snow and rain that can degrade the effectiveness of surveillance cameras and can be deployed to fill-in camera blind spots. Perimeter alarms can be used to trigger camera call-up and direct security personnel to the intrusion location.
- Integrating video management with access control streamlines operations by enabling operators to visually assess access-denied events. In addition, post-incident investigations are greatly simplified by linking access events to video.
