Reolink has unveiled a new home security camera with clearer and sharper images as well as wider viewing angles. The C2 Pro will be available for purchase soon at a retail price of US$119.99.

Reolink C2 Pro features 5 megapixel HD, giving it a 2560x1920 resolution. The smooth pan–tilt–zoom (PTZ) control gives users more flexibility when checking far, near and everything in between, and leaving almost no blind spots, the company says. With the 3X optical zoom, users can even see details like the object a baby is holding in the hand, Reolink says.

More specifically, the C2 Pro allows for 355-degree pan and 105-degree tilt viewing angles, besides 3X optical zoom. C2 Pro is more advanced than the 2 megapixel resolution and small viewing angles seen in many of today’s cameras, Reolink adds.

The camera also features 40-feet (12-meter) night vision in low-light condition, dual-band Wi-Fi connectivity for stronger wireless signals and two-way audio. With built-in mic and speaker, users can hear and speak through the camera to communicate with families.

C2 Pro’s white case not only gives an elegant feel, but also blend in home décor more easily, Reolink says, adding that the camera’s low-profile color is less likely to make guests at home feel uncomfortable.

With the companion app, the camera sends real-time app push notifications and email alerts, when suspicious movements are detected. The email will attach motion clips or on-scene snapshots. Also, users can set up specific motion detecting zones and different sensitivity levels to reduce false alarms.

C2 Pro can record motion events to the micro SD card or FTP server for later playback. 24/7 surveillance is available when connected to a Reolink NVR.

Reolink’s existing product line includes battery-powered Argus series security camera for outdoor/indoor use, and C1 Pro and C2 for indoor security. The company has tried to position its home security cameras as easy-to-set-up, plug-and-play products. The C2 model has been adopted for baby monitor and all-around home security purposes.

Earlier this year Reolink announced the availability of Reolink Cloud, an online platform for customers to store, access and share HD motion detection videos.

With the Cloud service, Reolink became both a hardware and software company. “The Reolink Cloud debut marks a giant step for us towards the smart home field, and it’s also a groundbreaking upgrade for Reolink products,” said Reolink’s marketing manager Pam Cheung.

The video being uploaded to Reolink Cloud will be secured with the HTTPS protocol, ensuring customers’ data is encrypted and transferred over a secure connection.

The cloud service is now in beta test. The plan supports five cameras, and comes with 15 days of cloud video history and 10GB of cloud storage.

The monthly subscription plans are scheduled to arrive in early 2019. The free Basic Plan supports one cameras, and comes with 7 days of cloud video history and 1GB of cloud storage.

The US$2.49/month Standard Plan supports five cameras, and comes with 30 days of storage and 10GB or cloud storage. The US$4.99 Premier Plan supports 10 cameras, and comes with 30 days of storage and 50GB or cloud storage.
