Brinno, a time-lapse photography company based in Taiwan, has introduced a new version of its peephole camera - the Brinno Duo.
Brinno’s peephole camera turns a regular door peephole into a security camera, to let users check on their homes from the smartphone while the visitor at the door is unaware of the camera’s existence.
The peephole is replaced with the camera so users can’t see through the peephole. But on the other side of the door is a 2.7-inch LED screen, showing what’s being captured by the camera.
With a built-in knocking sensor and a separate motion sensor, the Brinno Duo knows when a visitor or an intruder is standing at the door. When their presence are detected at the door, the camera will automatically start recording a video, and send an alert and an email with photos it captured to the user’s mobile phone.
The Video clips will be stored in two ways: on the local SD card in the device or sent to the email address which users prefer. The company doesn’t store any video clips in its cloud server, saying that it is for user privacy protection.
The device is powered by four AA batteries, to it can work wirelessly. The company says the battery life “lasts for months.”
The Brinno Duo is a DIY home camera which can be installed on any standard door peepholes with no electrical work involved. Compared to the previous version the SHC1000, the Brinno Duo has an official product name rather than a model number, as well as upgraded LED display and app alerts.
Brinno’s new peephole camera will be launched within two weeks on crowdfunding website Indiegogo. The company hasn’t revealed further information on price info or release date.
