August Home has announced integration between its August Smart Lock Pro model and Alarm.com. Homeowners will be notified of unusual locking or unlocking activities through security systems supported by Alarm.com.
Alarm.com, a U.S.-based security solutions provider, supports home security panels from various smart home brands including DSC, Interlogix, Nortek and Qolsy.
One of the main features from the integration is the inclusion of August’s locks in Alarm.com’s scenes, which trigger multiple smart home devices simultaneously within an ecosystem. For instance, a “secure” scene can lock the August device at the front door, arm security alarms, turn off lights and turn on security cameras at the same time.
Because scenes also works with voice assistant Amazon Alexa, this series of commands can be also triggered by talking to Alexa.
Some other features will be also added into both August and Alarm.com apps. They include timed auto-lock, location-based locking reminders, one-touch remote locking and unexpected activity notifications.
August Smart Lock Pro supports Z-Wave Plus communication protocol, which makes it also compatible with smart home hubs, alarm panels and control systems that use Z-Wave standard.
The Alarm.com integration only works with the August Smart Lock Pro model.
It’s not the first time August Home brings its products into a home security platform. Earlier this year, the smart lock company announced an integration with SimpliSafe, offering a control combination with the system for its two products – August Smart Lock and August Smart Lock Pro.
