Arcadia Power, a U.S. digital utility service provider for renewable energy, has announced a partnership with Amazon, to launch subscription plans for connected homes.
The subscription plans will be offered on Arcadia Power’s online dashboard and Amazon Smart Home Services, the e-commerce giant’s smart home consulting and installation service. The plans include connected device which that can cut down home energy bills.
The Home Efficiency Bundle Basic plan includes an Ecobee smart thermostat, three smart LED bulbs, an Amazon Echo Dot and four Wi-Fi-enabled smart plugs. The Plus plan has all the devices in the Basic plan plus a Ring smart doorbell and an Echo Show instead of Echo Dot.
Both plans require consumers to pay subscription fees every month for 36 months – at US$20 for Basic and US$36 for Plus. Once they have paid for 36 months, those devices in the bundle will become theirs. It is a business model similar to those adopted by U.S. mobile carriers.
Once consumers opt in the subscription, the connected devices will be delivered and installed by Amazon professionals from the Amazon Smart Home Services. During the subscription period, Arcadia Power will educate users how to take advantage of the Home Efficiency Bundles for further energy saving.
Founded in 2014, Arcadia Power has integrated its digital energy management platform with more than 100 utilities in all 50 states in the U.S. It utilizes renewable energy and allows all consumers to sign up its services online.
“The cheapest energy is the energy we don’t use, and our Home Efficiency Bundles expand energy efficiency access across the U.S. through a subscription payment, with zero upfront costs,” says Kiran Bhatraju, CEO of Arcadia Power, in a statement.
For Amazon, working with Arcadia Power can bring its smart home devices and smart voice assistant Alexa into more U.S. households.
