Smart home expert Lumi grabs the attention of global home technology market again by introducing the first-ever smart speaker MILO, supporting Vietnamese speech recognition.

Started engaging in smart home market since 2012, Lumi debuted the innovative touch panel as the first commercial product of smart home in 2014. The next year, the company began delivering its own comprehensive home and building automation solution with more than 60 in-house R&D specialists. Now, Lumi solutions are preparing to step in smart city in the coming years.

Using Zigbee protocol, Lumi’s integrated solution covers lighting and curtain control, door security sensors, environmental sensors, multimedia control, as well as the cloud server to customize individual automation preference.

Lumi used to directly work with end users, however, the company is planning a rapid extension of domestic and overseas distribution network since 2018. In addition to continuous add-ons of the product functionality and support, Lumi is ready to become the first choice as the ODM partner for whom wants to develop IoT products in the world.

Dam Dac Quang,
Deputy Sales Manager of
Lumi Vietnam

“Lumi currently has 100 distributors nationwide in Vietnam including channels in the security, electronics and automation industries. Our domestic sales generates 70% of the revenue,” commented Dam Dac Quang, Deputy Sales Manager of Lumi Vietnam. “However, with our overseas activities in India, Australia, Brazil, Israel and Thailand, we are expecting to reach international sales by 50% of Lumi’s total revenue.”

Seeing the potential in Vietnam, Lumi introduced MILO smart speaker in June to bring consumers an intuitive way of home control. To maximize the accuracy of voice recognition, Lumi works with Hanoi University of Science & Technology to study the Vietnamese linguistics.

“We find design, software platform and hardware development are the three key factors for smart speakers. Lumi designs the product and software platform, outsources the hardware factory, and examines the product quality to provide better solutions for our customers,” explained Quang.

Not Just Homes

30 percent of Lumi’s works are in the villa sector, locating in Hanoi, Thanh Hoa, and Vinh Phuc. According to Quang, the space of general apartments and villas make difference for the smart solutions. Device connection has to remain stable to overcome longer transmission distance in the villa. The ability of seamless group automation control on lighting, shading or entertainment systems also play a key role.

For international smart home solution providers who are interested in Vietnamese markets, Hanoi and HCMC generate top two revenue while HCMC still slightly higher due to the resident’s consuming habits. “Study must be made before entering the market,” emphasized Quang firmly.
