Digital Barriers, the specialist provider of AI and cloud software for live video streaming and analytics, is pleased to announce the appointment of Neville Davis as Chairman with immediate effect. This appointment follows the Management Buyout of the Company on 31 October 2017, backed by Volpi Capital.

Neville brings a vast array of experience in chairing the boards of fast growing, private equity backed software businesses, with Digital Barriers his twelfth such role. Neville’s prior chairmanships including Clifford Thames, SecureData, Fourth, Trustmarque, Ascribe, Amor and GoIndustry DoveBid. In addition to Digital Barriers, Neville currently chairs two other private equity-backed companies: Peppermint Technology and Key Travel. Before becoming a plural chairman, Neville was a highly experienced business leader with more than twenty years as a Chief Executive Officer, including twelve years with a quoted company. As CEO, Neville had an exceptional track record of business growth in both good and difficult market conditions, increasing revenues from £5m with 30 employees to revenues of £300m and more than 1500 employees.

Commenting on his appointment as Chairman, Neville Davis said: “Digital Barriers has a highly disruptive set of video software solutions in extremely relevant technology areas, including AI, IoT, facial recognition and live video streaming. The company also has an enviable blue-chip customer base around the world that continues to grow and develop. The timing of the buyout could not have been better in my opinion and the opportunity for the business is exceptional. I am genuinely excited to be working with Zak and his team as they continue to develop the company.”

Zak Doffman, CEO of Digital Barriers, commented: “I am delighted we have secured Neville as chairman. He brings a wealth of experience to help us drive the business forward. In the six months since the buyout, we have already materially transitioned the business from its legacy hardware to a software focus, and Neville’s track record in software businesses has come at the perfect time for us. I also welcome the mentoring he can bring for me and the senior team.”

Yuri Mikhalev of Volpi Capital, said: “Neville Davis is one of the most experienced chairmen of private equity backed software businesses in the UK. His joining Digital Barriers is a testament to the value of the business, its compelling opportunity for growth over the coming years, and the quality of the management team that Zak has put in place and which continues to strengthen. We very much look forward to working alongside him.”
