MaRS is an innovation center for medical research and development. Since they first opened in 2005, they have built on a rich legacy to create one of world’s largest innovation hubs, a 1.5-million-square-foot complex located in the heart of Canada’s largest research cluster in downtown Toronto.
Challenge
MaRS & B&H Architects were challenged to design and construct a LEED Canada-CS Gold Certified, state of the art technology 20 story facility that would house multiple tenants focused on work & learning, health & energy.
Solution
ASSA ABLOY collaborated with B&H Architects and Trillium Architectural Hardware to identify the best solutions to meet the everyday sustainability, clean room and accessibility needs of the various tenants. ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems provided a range of automatic door solutions as part of a sustainable state-of-the-art construction for MaRS Phase 2. Architectural hardware, electromechanical and access control hardware solutions were provided by Group brands Sargent, McKinney, HES, Securitron and Medeco.
