Reliance High-Tech has delivered an advanced access, video and security management solution at John Menzies global headquarters in Scotland.
The project, which took eight months from concept to completion, paves the way for further innovation at the company's distribution centres and hubs worldwide.
"We had a clear concept for what we wanted to achieve and we looked at several service providers," explains John Menzies' Group Chief Security Officer Johan Lotriet. "We chose Reliance High-Tech for the project based on their track record and they have delivered exactly what we wanted."
Reliance High-Tech designed and installed a dedicated security network, with servers and work stations integrating video management, access control, biometrics and ANPR systems.
The solution provides efficient access control and security management at a site with a throughput of around 450 staff and visitors every day, as well as approximately 300 vehicles including delivery trucks. A database of approved vehicles ensures rapid entry and smooth movement of deliveries through a dedicated ANPR-controlled entrance.
"Not only does the system give our security managers much greater control, it's also easy to use and allows us to add functionality as operational requirements change," says Johan Lotriet.
Internal security has been upgraded, with segregated areas demarked by speed lanes and the access control is integrated into a video management system, with cause and effect configured to enhance alarm handling and situational awareness.
